Rosedale

March 14, 2019

Heading down the coast towards Batemans Bay brought back so many memories. Braidwood seemed to have stood the test of time since it has hardly changed at all. Such a gorgeous quaint little village with beautifully kept old pubs, buildings, gardens and bakeries.  Then driving across the bridge at Nelligen, I remembered how we used to have to line up and drive onto a car punt that would take us across the Clyde River. At holiday time, it was always a bit of a wait, we used to count the cars in front of us and work out (@9 cars per punt) how long it would take before we got on!! All very exciting for us kids, probably not for Dad. Got into Batemans Bay had some pretty average fish and chips then headed down the coast. Thanks to my new GPS, compliments of Imogen and Matilda, I was able to drive directly to Cath and Jacks place at Rosedale.

Their house, Dale cottage, is tucked away amongst forests of the tallest spotty gums and overlooking Stingray Bay, just south of Malua Bay. Gorgeous!! The king parrots, lorikeets and cockatoos come in daily to the verandah and are so cheeky looking for feed. What a peaceful and beautyFULL lifestyle!

Spent days walking with Cath around the Rosedale community following tracks that wove in, out and around the beaches, toured the coastline down to Moruya and out to Mogo, watched the most amazing hail storm come in and even went on a rowing adventure up the Tuross River to have the best fish and chips ever at the Boathouse.  Such a great day out!

One day we had a little print workshop out the back of Dale Cottage and made some lovely prints, Jacks a budding printmaker now!!

It was great to hang out with these two absolute legends for a while and check out their place and the environment they live in. It truly is a beautiful and peaceful part of the world!

Cath and Jack went on a little getaway for a week and I stayed on setting up a little studio out on their verandah for a week playing with the oils, drawing and finishing off some work for Matilda’s Birthday.

Excellent!!!
